About: Despite the ever narrowing gap between men and women in career fields, women remain a minority in IT. Our aim is to get girls interested in technology at a young age and mentor the next generation of female IT leaders. This week-long camp is open to middle school girls in Leon County with an interest in IT/Computing.
When: The Technology Camp will take place June 17-June 21st from 9AM-12:30PM each day

There is no cost to the student/parent and no supplies needed. We will provide all the equipment. It might be helpful to bring a USB drive to save work.
Monday: Focus on Hardware and Media
Students will learn about what is inside a computer by taking them apart. Students will get a basic education in how to manipulate pictures and sound files. They will leave having created custom sound files and pictures. Students will also be using tablet devices (iPads, Galalxy tabs, Archos, and iPods)
Tuesday: Focus on Web Design
Students will learn basic HTML and how to create websites. They will leave will their own website, to which they will learn to add custom content
Wednesday: Focus on Game Design
Students will learn the basics of game design in Game Maker. They will learn about sprites, objects, boolean logic, and interactions. They will leave having created a simple game
Thursday: Focus on Computer Coding
Through the use of the program Hackety Hack (http://hackety.com/), students will learn what coding is all about. They will learn the basics of how programs work, and will leave with the ability to write a program of their own
Friday: Focus on Security/Privacy
Staying safe on the internet is an essential technology skill. On Friday we will wrap up the week by teaching the student about internet and network security and privacy. Students will leave better equipped to stay safe on the web, and will also receive a certificate for completing the Technology Camp
